Jay Riordan, President and CEO of Dream Design Builders, moved to San Diego from Chicago in 1968. In 1987, after spending six years learning the home remodeling business from the ground up, he started Dream Design Builders—winner of numerous industry awards and a range of national accolades for designing and building diverse home remodel projects.
Jay holds the professional designation of Certified Remodeler (CR) contractor through the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). He is also a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Jay has consistently been active in the professional development aspects of the home remodeling industry here in San Diego; he has served as President and as Chairman of the Board of the San Diego Chapter of NARI. Jay is committed to the community in which he lives and works, and he demonstrates this commitment through his service as an active member of Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary, Past Chairman of the Board for Poway on Stage, and Executive Board Member for Casa de las Campanas, a not-for-profit Continued Care Retirement community. In addition, Jay is member of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), and has served as President of the Rancho Bernardo Community Council. Also, Mayor Jerry Sanders appointed Jay to the Sustainable Energy Advisory Board and Parking Advisory Board for the City of San Diego.
Jay has been married to his wife, Brenda, since 1990, and he calls her “The love of my life.” Brenda is a fourth-generation Californian, and she and Jay have two sons—Patrick and Christopher. Both Jay and his family have lived and worked in Rancho Bernardo since 1997, just recently relocating his residence to Escondido. Jay enjoys giving back to the community that has already given him so much, and actively seeks out opportunities to be of assistance to those around him. In their free time Jay and Brenda enjoy hiking with their dogs, dining in local restaurants, travel and anything their boys want to do with them!
