The vision for this extreme interior renovation was to completely transform this California cottage ranch into an open, contemporary Mid-Century home. We completely gutted the house, removing walls to relocating them to create clean, open spaces that would accommodate two families: parents and their son and his family.
We blended the parents’ traditional style with their son’s more contemporary one, with a focus on keeping the overall design clean and neutral. We opened flat ceilings to reconstruct vaulted spaces with ridge beam construction and clearstory rafter windows. Oversized windows and multiple skylights throughout the home enhance the voluminous space and natural light; wood floors, railings and accents lend warmth. White walls and white cabinets contrast with dark gray quartz countertops and backsplashes; art, pillows and rugs add color against the neutral backdrop.
