The original layout of this bungalow home was outdated and awkward. The kitchen island encroached on a small family room space, which was already crowded out by a large fireplace that left little room for furniture.
Our design replaced the intrusive island with a new one that was parallel to the family room, and opened the wall between the family room and the hallway to create more space and improve the flow to the powder room and garage. White cabinets were designed to match the home’s existing painted wood details, such as crown moldings, doors and trim.
We removed the overbearing fireplace and built a new wall with a contemporary linear fireplace that complements rather than consumes the room. The wall also includes a TV niche and glass shelves to display our client’s art collection.
