Located on the Oaks North golf course with amazing views of the 16th tee box, this home has high vaulted ceilings in the living room and dining area – but the existing kitchen was closed in by four walls and a low 7’6” ceiling. We designed an open layout to connect the kitchen to the dining and living spaces and extend the ceiling to the existing vaulted roof structure. We also extended the rear wall of the house to expand the living space. Achieving this design required extensive structural rework, but was well worth the effort.
The large centerpiece island in the revamped kitchen includes a wet bar and a raised bar-top for entertaining and dining. In addition, it showcases our client’s extensive wine collection, including both wine storage and refrigeration. Wide maple cabinets with rail shaker doors, bamboo flooring, quartz countertops with a simple drop-down edge detail and a horizontal bamboo-style tile back splash enhance the “Zen” ambiance of this kitchen and complement the rest of the interior.
