When our clients purchased this ranch style home, it had the original 1960s kitchen: closed-off and compartmentalized with Formica counters. They wanted to completely transform the kitchen to create an open feel and add a large island and walk-in pantry. Clean lines and a simple, functional design were among the top priorities on the list.
We knocked down the walls to open the space to the great room, which was part of the whole-house renovation, and built a walk-in pantry and center island with a curved edge for dining; the island also includes a sink and refrigerated wine storage. Cherry cabinets with shaker-style doors, rain glass upper cabinets, stainless appliances and a full-height granite back splash behind the 48” gas range create a classic look.
