Our clients wanted to expand and open their kitchen to create a casual great room and dining space with easy access to a large ocean-view deck. The crescent-shaped island includes a clay sink and seating for four; leather-textured countertops, rich matte stained cabinetry, pendulum lights and studded stools reflect the Mediterranean rustic design theme. Decorative iron inserts behind the range enhance the design. We also built a walk-in pantry and added access to the side yard.
The new kitchen was part of a whole-house remodel that included relocating bedrooms to a new second-level addition, allowing for an expansion of the main level living and kitchen areas and pool table room. We also raised the ceilings throughout the main level from 8 feet to approximately 10 feet, and added rustic beams to complement the theme.
