Our client wanted to completely change the interior of this traditional Point Loma ranch home, starting with gutting the entire house, removing the roof and raising the standard 8-foot ceilings to 10 feet. Instead of compartmentalized spaces, our client envisioned a rustic Tuscan design with an open great room and plenty of space for entertaining. Designed to be the focal point of the new great room, the kitchen features a centerpiece island curved to overlook the Pacific Ocean views. Rich stained cabinetry, honed leather granite, decorative Italian ironwork behind the range and black iron hanging lanterns all enhance the Renaissance design. Distressed open-beam ceilings flow through the kitchen into the great room, where the revamped fireplace with a heavy timber wood mantle reflects the Tuscan theme.
