To accommodate three generations – parents, their son and his wife, and three grandchildren – this family decided to renovate the custom ranch home that the parents built more than 30 years ago . We added two large additions to the modest 3,600-sf home to expand the living space to 5,800 sf. A new living space added to the front of the home created 2,000 sq. ft. of luxury accommodations for the parents; we also opened the façade to the generous front yard..
A two-story addition and catwalk combined with the back of the home provided 3,800 sf for the son’s family. Designed as a treehouse, the two-story addition includes a new master suite on the second level; large sliding corner glass doors open to a wrap-around cantilevered redwood deck built into the trees overlooking the pool.
The house was completely transformed from a traditional ranch style home to a sleek post and beam mid-century-style home, with open cable railing, vaulted beams and tongue-and-groove ceilings. Continuous surfaces offset by rich wood grain enhance the sleek, clean design.
